Year 10 Complete Patchwork Project

Patchwork Quilts

Year 10 Textiles Technology have completed their patchwork quilts just in time to rug up for the winter. The students’ major works are the culmination of hours of painstaking attention to detail but the results speak for themselves.

The students were charged with coordinating the colour schemes and patterns for the patchworks. The twelve quilts and two cushions required the girls to use rotary cutters, cutting maps, quilting rulers and sewing machines to create their masterpieces.

“I’m really proud about how they've all turned out,” explains Year 10 Textiles Technology teacher Jess Wainwright,  ”It’s really nice to see the girls take interest in a traditional technique and bring a modern aesthetic to it. It’s such a long repetitive process and it takes lots of care and precision. They did well to persevere through it.”
