Athletics Carnival

Date

10 May

Time

9:00 AM-3:00 PM

Location
Jubilee Oval

The MRHS Athletics Carnival will take place at Jubilee Oval on Monday 10 May. The carnival will run for the entire day. The students will not be required to pay for the bus to and from the event. Students will, however, still be required to start and end their day at their respective site. Students are encouraged to wear either their house colours or sports uniform. They will be required to wear enclosed footwear at all times, with sturdy, lace up runners being the recommended option. Thongs and slides will not be permitted. Students are also asked to bring warm clothing, sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), a blanket or towel to sit on and water to drink. Students with anaphylaxis or asthma are also asked to carry their required medication on them at all times. Year 12 will be running a canteen fundraiser on the day, so a range of food and drinks will be available at a cost. Students are also free to bring their own food if they wish or have special dietary requirements. The Athletics Carnival is an exciting day with a variety of events for all students. It’s a day of athleticism and competition but most importantly, it’s a day of participation, sportsmanship and fun!

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. Our school will be participating in NAPLAN Online between 11 and 21 May 2021. In preparation for NAPLAN Online, our school will be participating in practice tests between 22 March and 1 April. The practice tests give students an opportunity to become familiar with the test format, functions and tools of the online tests in a test environment. The practice tests are not an assessment of student ability and will not be marked. Excessive preparation for NAPLAN Online is not recommended. Students do not need to be able to touch type to complete NAPLAN Online as the tests are not about keyboard skills (just as the paper test is not about handwriting skills). Students can use the public demonstration site to familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools available in the NAPLAN Online tests. Please see the attached NAPLAN Online – Information for parents and carers sheet for further information. If you have any questions about NAPLAN Online, please contact your child’s teacher.
