Songmakers Returns to MRHS

Songmakers

Last week, the APRA AMCOS Songmakers program returned to MRHS to help our students create four new hit singles.

The students were selected by ALEC head teacher Allison Stewart and music teacher Hannah Lonnergan to take part in the two-day session. They were mentored by up-and-coming stars Taka Perry, Blake Rhodes and Thandi Phoenix through the writing and recording process.

The finished songs ranged from pop to ballads to drill. The students spent the first day writing under the guidance of Thandi and then recorded with Taka and Blake the second day.

“It’s a great opportunity for MRHS to have a program of this calibre come to the school,” explains Mrs Stewart, ”We are all really proud of the music the students produced and are amazed by how polished the production was.”

Special thanks to APRA AMCOS and Taka, Blake and Thandi for providing our students with this amazing opportunity. You can hear some of the tracks we created below.
