Reconciliation Cup 2023

Reconciliation Cup

Yesterday, Murrumbidgee sent four teams off to the Reconciliation Cup at the Griffith Regional Sports Centre.

The annual event, run by the Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service and held during Reconciliation Week, pits MRHS students against Tirkandi Inaburra and Marian Catholic College. This year, the schools took to the courts to face off in basketball.

Murrumbidgee and the school’s Clontarf academies both pitched junior and senior teams, with both the school junior and senior teams making it to the finals. Unfortunately, the MRHS junior team faced a thrashing at the hands of Marian. Our senior team, however, managed to hang in there through the match, running the game into overtime and eventually scoring the winning hoop against Marian.

Murrumbidgee player Jeffrey Krause demonstrated his prowess for shooting hoops, scoring from the three point line and winning himself a $250 pair of shoes. MRHS player Xavier Favero also won himself a $300 voucher after being declared the day’s MVP.

The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the students. Congratulations to the Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service for once again putting on another fantastic Reconciliation Cup!
