Open Girls Soccer Power Through Semis Against Deniliquin

Open Girls Soccer Team 2023

The open girls soccer team had a big victory against Deniliquin High School on Tuesday, beating the south western Riverina team an impressive 9-nil.

Played at Rotary Park at Deni, the started pretty close, with Murrumbidgee up 2-nil at half time. A surge in the second half, however, pushed victory further and further out of Deni’s grasp.

Reese Vidler had a tremendous game, scoring 4 goals through the match. Year 7 student Allanna King played beyond her years, putting in some good runs and Chelsea Upcroft’s solid work on the backline and her penalty goal also helped seal the win..

“The girls were all over Deniliquin,” recounts team coach Cailyn Loveday, “They made lots of opportunities and took a lot of shots.”

The team will move on to play Albury High School in the coming weeks. Well done, girls!
