Murrumbidgee Puts in Strong Performance at Brumbies 7s

Brumbies 7s

Murrumbidgee got the chance to dazzle teams from across the Griffith and Wagga region with their Rugby Union prowess over the past two days at the Brumbies 7s.

Yesterday, due to prior commitments, our 9-10 and 11-12 boys went to Wagga to compete. Our 9-10 team beat every team to secure their place in the next round and the 11-12 team drew the first game, won the second two and won the last game by forfeit.

Ben Williment in the 9-10 team was an amazing all-rounder, making some tremendous intercepts and some swift runs. Viliami Siale was relentless on the attack.

On the 11-12 team, Willie Loganimoce made some ferocious tackles. Saul Railo’s runs were unstoppable and Tali Talioe-Sila's defense was formidable.

Today, the 11-12 girls, 9-10 girls and the 7-8 boys played. Both the girls teams proved unbeatable, with the 9-10 girls winning every match and the 11-12 girls winning two and tying their last game against Marian Catholic College. The boys had less luck, but showed a lot of heart on the field.

In the 9-10 girls' team, Samantha Simpson was really strong in the middle. Amy Parker was quick on the wing and Jayda Cook was a huge asset to the team, as usual. On the 11-12 girls' side Tangata Toru saved a lot of tries with her tackles and Jaylan Tia made some strong runs. Tevita Baleinausori made some speedy breaks on the 7-8 boys' team.

Well done to all of our players. The 9-10 boys, 9-10 girls, 11-12 boys and 11-12 girls will all compete in Canberra at the next stage of the competition later in the year.
