Murrumbidgee played Albury High School for the Riverina Championships at Griffith site this morning. Though Murrumbidgee played hard, they lost the title.
Goalkeeper Liliana Ah Kee spent the majority of the game staving off Albury’s relentless assault, making some impressive saves and keeping Bidgee’s spirits up. Sophie Hilton also impressed on the field today, staying in her play and keeping her feet in some challenging situations.
Perhaps the most dazzling moment in the match, however, was when Amelia Taylor curved a kick from the corner through the goalposts. Taylor’s versatility throughout the day is to be commended, as she also put up a strong defence throughout the game.
“The girls were of mixed experience, but they really came together on the field today,” explained coach Cailyn Loveday,” They did a great job getting to the finals but unfortunately lost to the better team.”
