Students Explore Combustion and the Nervous System in Science

Biology

Mrs Moore and her class went over to the labs for some hands-on chemistry and biology last month with science teacher Mr Forrest.

The class were treated to a quick demonstration in how the brain reacts with its environment before dissecting and identifying the parts of a lamb’s brain. They then moved onto exploring combustion.

The students loved seeing the green tinge from copper sulphate and the sparks from titanium oxide as they were added to the flames. After the pyrotechnics, the students were then walked through safe use of Bunsen burners. At the end of the lesson they were issued their own Bunsen burner license.

The students had a wonderful time and hope to continue to perform practical science experiments with Mr Forrest through the term.
