MRHS Tennis Teams Knocked Out In Hay

Hay Tennis

The MRHS Tennis team went to Hay for the second round of the CHS Tennis comp. Unfortunately, though the team got knocked out during the first round, the students were thrilled about the prospect of an adventure over the Hay plains.

It was Coach Kathy Gee's first time driving a bus, and by all accounts, she did a stellar job. The team headed out at 7.15 am and arrived just before 9 at the Hay Tennis Courts unscathed.

Despite the team's enthusiasm, sadly both the girls and boys were knocked out in the first round against Albury. It should be noted, however, that Ben Fattore didn't go down without a fight, winning 2 games. Chloe Hughes and Ruth Teopenga also managed to win a game apiece.

The loss didn't dampen the team's spirits (or appetites). Notably, before the trip back, Jack Fry managed to stomach a prodigious amount of sausages at the BBQ, followed by several cakes at the local bakery. When asked, Jack said that eating was his favourite part of sports trips.

The team headed back to Griffith, but not before taking a photo in front of the iconic Hay silos.

"We played well, but they played better," reflects coach Kathy Gee, "Hopefully, the teams can learn from their losses and come back stronger next year."
