Information Software and Technology Design Their Dream Homes

CAD Homes

Year 9 Information Software and Technology have been getting creative with computers. The class were tasked with building their dream house using Google Sketchup – a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) program.

The students had to select at least three of the following features in their dream home: a resort island, a zoo, a medieval classroom, a skatepark, a hedge maze, a robot, a car a kitchen, bedroom, sitting room or bedroom. They had to then bring all of these elements together into a coherent design.

The aspiring architects had to use appropriate colour schemes and text to create their dream homes. They were assessed on their ability to utilise Sketchup’s functions to realise their artistic vision.

“They’re a very good class,” explains Information Software and Design teacher Jenny Chong, “They’re very creative and work hard. I’m really impressed with what they’ve done so far.”

The class will move on to study Photoshop later in the term before moving on to study Microsoft Excel and its applications in the financial world.
