Do It For Dolly Day 2021

Emily Power

Year 9 student Emily Power took it upon herself to bring Do It For Dolly Day to MRHS. For one day, students donned Akubra hats and blue outfits to take a stand against bullying.

Do It For Dolly Day is an initiative of the Dolly’s Dream Foundation. Established in 2018 after the tragic passing of Dolly Everett, Dolly’s Dream aims to change the culture and behaviours around bullying and increase the understanding of the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide.

The uptake by the students has been great. Emily has been surprised that some students have given considerably more than the gold coin donation asked from the participants. “It’s really good to see everyone get on board to stand up against bullying. It’s especially good to see all of the kids in akubras!” exclaimed Emily.

The donations will be passed on to the Dolly’s Dream Foundation so that they can continue their great work. Fantastic job, Emily!
