For many, staying in your pyjamas all day is the dream, but for the students and teachers of Murrumbidgee Regional High School, it was an opportunity to raise money for a good cause.
In the chill of an early autumn morning, students turned up to school in droves in their ugg boots, flanno pyjamas and dressing gowns. For a gold coin donation, they were allowed to slump out of bed and off to school in their sleepwear.
'It's so comfortable to be wearing my pyjamas. After I've done all my work I might have to lie down for a nap.'
Food stalls were set up in the Quad at both sites where, for another donation, students could treat themselves to a hot breakfast. Pyjamas and breakfast, after all, go hand in hand.
The initiative was the brainchild of the Year 12 Fundraising Committee who managed to put together a total of more than five hundred dollars. 'We're such a big school so it's important for us to be able to give something back to our community. It's a great life lesson to know that we are able to help other people.'
