Restaurant Day 2023

Restaurant Day

Last week we had three Restaurant Days. A perennial favourite among the teachers, Restaurant Day sees our year 10 Food Technology students prepare a special meal for an exclusive number of staff.

Each restaurant day was themed differently. There was a restaurant day to celebrate the array of different cultures that make up our school, one let the students prepare a themed evening for their guests and one that saw a teacher dust off his chef’s hat and relive his fine dining past.

Students prepared hors d'oeuvres, mains and desserts for the teachers to enjoy over their lunch breaks. Special dietary requirements were catered for, tables were lovingly set and in one case, a student regaled staff with a rousing flute performance.

“It went really well,” exclaims Food Technology teacher Patrick Lane, “The kids worked really well under pressure and absolutely rose to the challenge.”

“The feedback I got from teachers was that they felt really special,” continues Food Technology teacher Rebecca Chapman, “They appreciated the lengths the students went to personalise the menu to them.”

“It was great to see the students engaged and really shine under pressure,” adds Food Technology teacher Kathy Gee, “Great work Year 10!”
