Year 10 Shutterbugs Hunt for the Perfect Insta Shot

Instagram Photos

Last week, the shutterbugs in Year 10 Photography and Digital Imaging were told to make a good looking drink as part of their Instagram unit. The results were mouth-watering.

The class had to source recipes, uncover marketing and Instagram photos of various beverages and research both photographic and culinary techniques to make the end product pop. The class were reminded through the process that good product photography isn’t about what tastes good, but rather what looks good.

Over the two years, the Photography and Digital Imaging students have explored the medium through a range of techniques. The students have played with photographing glass spheres, painting with light, forced perspective photography using figurines and digital manipulation.

“An assessment like this is a great way to learn about angles and compositions,” explains Photography teacher Jackie Vidler, “It gives students the chance to explore lighting techniques and get creative with camera settings.”

The class will now move on into the history of photography. Looking good, Year 10!
