On Saturday, more than twenty MRHS students dazzled audiences at the Multicultural Festival of Griffith with traditional song and dance from around the world.
Organised by the Multicultural Council of Griffith, the festival turned Griffith Memorial Park into a celebration of all the wonderful heritages that make up our community. The day featured performances, cuisine from around the world and kids' activities.
The boys from Clontarf opened the proceedings with a traditional Indigenous dance, followed by students pertforming a tau’olunga from Tonga, Pukapuka drum dance from the Cook Islands, Bhangra from India, Meke from Fiji and a number of war dances for an adoring crowd. Fate’s Babies, the MRHS pop group who won the Grass Roots Open Mic Comp earlier in the year, harmonised a moving rendition of Crowded House's Don’t Dream It’s Over to roaring applause.
“The Multicultural Festival is a great community event that gives our students a platform to express their cultural pride,” explains MRHS staff member and member of the Multicultural Council of Griffith Nau Mahe, “It was fantastic to see so many students from Murrumbidgee Regional High School performing on the day.”
