Harmony Day Celebration

As you’re probably aware, MRHS will be celebrating Harmony Day this Friday March 19. It’s a day that celebrates community participation, inclusiveness, diversity, respect and belonging.

As a part of a vibrant and multicultural community, Harmony Day holds a special significance for Murrumbidgee Regional High School. It’s a day that we get to celebrate the variety of nationalities and ethnicities that make up our school.

Here is a rundown of what you need to know:

  • This year, Harmony Day will be celebrated at the Wade site. Students at the Wade site will be expected to arrive and leave school at the usual times.
  • Students at the Griffith site will be transported to and from the Wade site by bus and will be expected to turn up to and leave Griffith site at the regular hours. The bus will be free for Griffith site students.
  • There will be a variety of food stalls. These stands will be CASH ONLY and will have halal, vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Food will be available from 11am.
    • Buffet: Students will be able to get a plate with three selections of food for $5. The selection will include curries, stir-fries, pastas, stews and rice dishes.
    • Snack Bar: Students will be able to purchase food from the snack bar for $2 an item. The selection will include tandoori wings, samosas, cheesecakes, tiramisu and sausages.
    • Drinks: Drinks can be purchased from the school canteen at the usual prices.
    • Griffith site canteen will be CLOSED for the whole day. This includes breakfast club.
  • Students are encouraged to wear orange or outfits that celebrate multiculturalism.
  • Unfortunately, this will be a STAFF AND STUDENT ONLY event.
  • There will be student and staff musical and dance performances between 12 am and 1pm.
  • There will be a touch football competition between 1pm and 2.30pm for interested students.
  • There will be a screening of the Samoan comedy Three Wise Cousins between 1pm and 2.30pm at the library.
